Box Score

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE volleyball dominated the blocking statistics Friday, but Austin Peay collected 48 kills for a 25-23, 25-21, 25-14 win over the Cougars at the Vadalabene Center.

SIUE, 9-17 overall and 8-7 in Ohio Valley Conference play, outblocked Austin Peay 9-1 with a team-leading five blocks from Kiana Fields.

Brooke Moore powered the Governors' offense with 15 kills. Kaylee Taff added 10 kills. The Governors hit .280 as a team as it improved to an OVC-leading record of 13-2 with a 24-4 mark overall.

"Set one and two we were able to come back after a few hiccups to start," said SIUE Head Coach Kendall Paulus. "We'd get a little bit of rhythm but never took advantage of it."

Hope Everett steadied the Cougars with eight kills and a team-leading .438 hitting percentage. Gabby Wimes added six kills and a .385 hitting percentage. SIUE hit .176 as a team.

"They're (Austin Peay) a good team. They just found a steady spot and were able to maintain it," said Paulus.

SIUE returns to action Saturday at 2 p.m. for its regular season finale at the Vadalabene Center. The Cougars entertain Murray State.
