Box Score EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — The SIUE Volleyball kept its win streak alive by winning their fifth game in a row by defeating Jacksonville State 3-1, in an Ohio Valley Conference match on Friday.
"Tonight we showed a really balanced effort against a top team," commented Head Coach Kendall Paulus. "We moved the ball around well. I am really proud of our blocking tonight and our middles ability to work hard to close the block."
The Cougars out blocked the Gamecocks, ending the evening with 12 blocks compared to the Gamecocks 5. Annie Ellis led the team with seven total blocks, while Kiana Fields and Dylynn Otte each contributed three.
"Coming into this match, everyone know their assignments," added Paulus. "The team was focused on what their specific task was and accomplishing that."
Rachel McDonald and Addie Sieber both recorded double-doubles on the evening. McDonald recorded 12 kills and 11 digs, while Sieber posted 21 assists and 11 digs.
Others contributing to the team's win include Savannah Christian who ended the night with 8 kills and hit .261, Fields who added 8 kills and Hope Everett and Otte who each contributed 7 kills of their own.
"This is a huge win for us," Paulus continued. "As a team, as long as we stay focused in on our specific tasks, we will continue to be a highly competitive team."
The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday, as they host Tennessee Tech in an OVC match set to start at 2 p.m.
