Box Score CARBONDALE, Ill. – SIUE women's soccer team shut out SIU Carbondale 2-0 on Friday.
"A road win is always positive and a boost to give us confidence that we're putting some results together in succession," commented Head Women's Soccer Coach Derek Burton.
Andrea Frerker scored the first goal on the evening for the Cougars, just eight minutes into the game.
The Cougars found the back of the net with three minutes left in regulation. Becca Jostes scored a goal at minute 87 with an assist from Courtney Benning to secure the win.
"It was definitely a battle and they certainly came to play and brought a tough physical element to the game," Burton added. "We stood strong and we're able to cap it off with beautiful goal late in the game."
Jensen Schoch picked up the win in goal for the Cougars and notched her second full shutout of the season. She ended the night with five saves.
The team will be back in action at home on Thursday when they host Eastern Kentucky in an Ohio Valley Conference game, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
