Box Score RICHMOND, Ky.—The SIUE volleyball team swept the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky 3-0, in an Ohio Valley Conference match on Friday. The Cougars defeated the Colonels by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-10.
"We are really proud of our composure throughout the game," commented Head Volleyball Coach Kendall Paulus. "EKU came out with a good game plan and made us work to come back."
Rachel McDonald notched a double-double, her tenth on the season, by totaling 10 kills and 11 digs.
"We served tough and stayed balanced on offense," Paulus added. "Blocking tonight was also a highlight. It was extremely consistent throughout the match and kept us in long rallies."
The Cougars out blocked and out hit the Colonels in terms of percentages. The team ended the evening with eight blocks, while hitting an even .200.
In addition to McDonald's 10 kills, Hope Everett contributed nine while Annie Ellis and Savannah Christian each added five.
Defensively for the team, Ellis and Christian led the team in blocks with five each.
The team will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Morehead State at 1 p.m.
