Box Score MURRAY, Ky.-- The Cougars fell to the Racers of Murray State, 5-0 on Sunday in their second game of OVC play.
"Today was the first time in a long time that we didn't seem ready to compete at the level needed to win a conference game," commented Head Women's Soccer Coach Derek Burton.
The Cougars recorded a total of four shots on goal from Becca Jostes, Myah Diekema, Emma Ehrsam and Courtney Vollmer, who each contributed one.
"We were prepared in every way, but from the start we were not mentally ready to influence the game or be proactive," Burton added. "We did start the second half very strong and created a ton of great scoring opportunities."
Bella Henderson played a majority of the game in goal for the Cougars and recorded four saves on the day.
"We will regroup and prepare for our OVC home opener and not let this game define us moving forward," Burton commented.
The Cougars will host Tennessee Tech in their OVC home opener on Thursday at Korte Stadium with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
