COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – SIUE and Tennessee Tech each collected a win in a Saturday doubleheader at Tech Softball Field.

The Golden Eagles won game one 3-2 in nine innings. The Cougars collected the second game 10-8.

The two teams meet for the rubber game of the series Sunday at 1 p.m.

"They were persistent," said SIUE Head Coach Jessica Jones. "They battled back. It's tough coming off an extra-inning loss, but they bounced back and scored in five of seven innings in the second game."

SIUE, 9-20 overall and 9-13 in the Ohio Valley Conference, collected 19 hits for the day.

"Alana Cobb-Adams led the pack the second game. Bailley Concatto had a great day as well," added Jones.

Lexi King earned the win in the nightcap and improved to 2-5. Emily Ingles was credited with her second save of the season.

King helped herself with three hits and three RBIs in the second game. She doubled home two runs in the fourth and another RBI single in the fifth inning.

Alyssa Arden took the loss in game two and is 8-12 overall.

SIUE's Sydney Baalman went extra innings in game one and was charged with the loss when Shelby Penning picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice to end the game in the ninth.

Amber Storer gave SIUE the early lead in game one as two runs scored on her first-inning single. TTU would tie it 2-2 in the third on a Jessie Lowery home run. Haeli Bryson was the winning pitcher, going the full nine innings and going to 7-4.

It was SIUE's sixth extra-inning game of the season.

"I like the team effort," said Jones. "You can't score that many runs without a team effort. We will come back pushing tomorrow. I'm proud of the fight."
