THE COUGARS: Continue their 2022 campaign on Friday, Oct. 14 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 15 at noon when SIUE travels to Tennessee Tech. The Cougars are 5-1 in their last six matches.
LAST TIME OUT: The Cougars took victory over Little Rock in a pair of home matches last weekend, winning 3-1 on Friday and 3-2 on Sunday. The matches marked the first meeting between the two schools since the Trojans joined the Ohio Valley Conference in 2022 after 31 years in the Sun Belt.
Sydney Hummert paced the Cougars last weekend with a pair of double-doubles, including a 24-kill match on Saturday. She is the first SIUE player since Rachel McDonald on Sep. 28, 2018 to record 24 kills in a match.
Julia Treichel's five aces on Saturday marked the first time any Cougar player had five or more aces since Taylor Joens recorded six on Oct. 20, 2017.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN: SIUE returns to the road after playing its last five matches at home. The Cougars finished their homestand 4-1 and own a 2-4 road record in 2022.
SERIES STUFF: The Cougars will face Tennessee Tech for the 13th time in program history on Friday dating back to 2011. SIUE is 4-8 against the Golden Eagles and have lost the last four matchups.
SCOUTING THE GOLEN EAGLES: Tennessee Tech is 7-12 and 4-3 in OVC play after taking victory over Morehead State on Wednesday, 3-1. The Golden Eagles are 4-2 at home this season and are 3-3 in their last six.
100 KILL CLUB: Five Cougars have recorded over 100 kills on the offensive end this season: Sydney Hummert (205), Savannah Christian (166), Julia Treichel (153), Priscilla Jones (122), and Ainsley Ranstead (111).
TEAM CONFERENCE RANKS: SIUE ranks second in the OVC with a .193 attack percentage. The Cougars' 1.41 aces per set stack up second in the conference.
INDIVIDUAL RANKS: Sydney Hummert holds the sixth spot in the OVC with 205 total kills and is ninth with 2.93 kills per set. Caroline Waite's 6.30 assists per set rank seventh. Nicole Kijowski's 4.41 digs per set rank fourth while her 309 total digs are good for fifth.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sydney Hummert earned Offensive Player of the Week honors in the OVC Sep. 19. after recording double-doubles each match at the Green Bay Invitational. She led the Cougars with 43 kills and a team-high 3.58 digs per set.
AT THE HELM: Head Coach Kendall Paulus is beginning her sixth season in charge of the Cougars. She owns a career record of 72-77 as head coach.
