EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE volleyball's three-match win streak came to an end Friday at the hands of the Lindenwood Lions.

Lindenwood swept SIUE 25-21, 25-16, 25-14 at First Community Arena Tuesday. It was the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

The Cougars fell to 8-8 overall and 3-2 in the OVC. Lindenwood improved to 5-9 and 2-3.

After hitting nearly .300 combined in two weekend matches, the Cougars hit just .038 Tuesday, committing 21 errors with 25 kills in 105 total attacks.

The Lions used a quick start in all three sets, going up 6-3 to start the first set. Lindenwood opened with an 8-4 lead in the second set before using an eight-point run to go up 16-6. They opened with a 9-1 lead in the final set. The Cougars never led in any set.

Sydney Hummert led the Cougars with eight kills and a pair of blocks for a team-high nine points. She hit .192 for the match. Julia Treichel had six kills and added four digs for seven points. Priscilla Jones and Ainsley Ranstead each finished with three kills.

Lindenwood's Taylor Gentemann led all players with 10 kills. 

The Cougars continue their season-long five-game home stand Friday when Little Rock comes to First Community Arena.
