THE COUGARS: Continue their 2022 campaign on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2:00 p.m. in a weekend series against Southern Indiana.
LAST TIME OUT: SIUE fell to Southeast Missouri 3-1 in a pair of matches last weekend. The Cougars hit .125 over the weekend compared to the Redhawks' .223.
Savannah Christian led the Cougars with 24 kills against SEMO, good for a .300 clip. At the net, Jessica Vineyard collected 12 blocks, while Caroline Waite dished out 39 assists. Nicole Kijowski paced the defense with 38 digs.
SENIOR DAY: Volleyball will honor three seniors on Saturday: Caroline Waite, Jessica Vineyard, and Nicole Kijowski.
BACK HOME: SIUE will play its eight game as the home team on Friday. The Cougars are 4-3 at First Community Arena this season.
SERIES STUFF: Friday marks the 26th meeting between the Cougars and Screaming Eagles since 1995. SIUE owns the series with a 16-9 record and have taken the last six meetings. At home, the Cougars are 8-3 against USI in their program history.
SCOUTING USI: The Screaming Eagles are 1-26 overall and 1-15 in OVC play this season. Southern Indiana has fallen in its last 12 matches. USI earned its lone victory this season against Lindenwood, sweeping the Lions in three sets on Sep. 30.
200 KILL CLUB: Two Cougars have recorded over 200 kills on the offensive end this season: Sydney Hummert (285) and Savannah Christian (232). Priscilla Jones (195), Julia Treichel (188), and Ainsley Ranstead (185) are on their way to the 200 mark.
INDIVIDUAL CONFERENCE RANKS: Sydney Hummert holds the 10th spot in the OVC averaging 2.74 kills per set. Caroline Waite's 571 assists rank seventh. Priscilla Jones ranks 10th with 92 total blocks. Nicole Kijowski's 459 digs are good for fifth in the conference and 38th in the nation.
MILESTONES: Alyse Drifka is approaching the 1,000-assist mark with 998 in her collegiate career. Savannah Christian needs six more blocks to notch 200 in her career.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nicole Kijowski earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors in the OVC Oct. 31 after averaging 5.82 D/S over three matches. Sydney Hummert earned Offensive Player of the Week honors Sep. 19 after recording double-doubles in three straight matches.
AT THE HELM: Head Coach Kendall Paulus is beginning her sixth season in charge of the Cougars. She owns a career record of 73-85 as head coach.
UP NEXT: SIUE will begin postseason play in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 17. The Cougars will hold the eighth seed and take on the one seed. Â
