EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE baseball remains on the road for a Tuesday afternoon contest at Western Illinois. It will be the second of two scheduled meetings between the two teams. The Leathernecks won in Edwardsville in March.
LAST TIME: The Cougars are coming off a two-game series at SIU Carbondale. The Salukis swept a doubleheader Saturday. SIUE has lost three in a row.
HOMER HAPPY: The Cougars continue to be one of the top home run hitting teams in the country. With 52 homers, SIUE is third in the Ohio Valley Conference and 26th in the NCAA. SIUE is 18th in the NCAA in home runs per game (1.62). Brett Johnson is third in the OVC and 30th in the NCAA with 12 homers. Richie Well is fourth in the league and 40th in the NCAA at 11. Including Johnson and Well, there have been 12 double-digit home run seasons at the Division I level for SIUE. Johnson hit 10 home runs last season. SIUE's single-season record is 15, which has been done three times.

Kaid Karnes leads the league with a 2.32 ERA. He is fifth in strikeouts per nine innings at 8.86. Brant Glidewell is third in innings pitched at 5.70 per outing. He is tied for ninth in the league in opponents' batting average at .261.
