EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Priscilla Jones, Sydney Hummert, and Julia Treichel tallied double-digit kills as the Cougars went on to down Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon at Screaming Eagles Arena. SIUE took the final three sets for a 3-2 victory with set scores of 15-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, and 17-15.
SIUE improves to 8-9 overall and 2-4 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Southern Indiana falls to 9-10 and 5-3.
Despite falling in the opening two frames, SIUE used a .263 attack percentage while holding USI to .098 in the third frame for its first set win of the night. The Cougars rallied off three consecutive set victories for a 3-2 final.
SIUE concluded the match with a .147 hitting percentage while picking up 11 total blocks. SIUE, the OVC leader in total blocks, has picked up double-digit blocks in 10 of its 17 matches this season.
Inside the Numbers:
- Priscilla Jones led SIUE's attack with 15 kills. She concluded the match with a .235 attack percentage. The middle blocker also led the Cougars at the net with eight total blocks.
- Hummert contributed 13 kills while Treichel picked up 10. Both wrapped the match with a double-double. Hummert tallied a season-high 18 digs while Treichel finished with 14.
- SIUE picked up eight service aces in the victory. Alyse Drifka led the squad with three while Corinna Jones, and Priscilla Jones added a pair each.
- Drifka also led SIUE with 25 assists to cap off her ninth double-double of the season. Corinna Jones dished out 18 while adding 14 digs for her fourth double-double of the season.
