LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – SIUE volleyball opened its final regular season series of the season on Friday night at Little Rock. The Trojans used a .318 attack percentage to down the Cougars in three sets with scores of 17-25, 23-25, and 21-25.
SIUE falls to 13-15 overall and 7-10 against Ohio Valley Conference opponents. Little Rock improves to 10-18 and 7-10.
Little Rock's attack took the opening four points of the first frame and never looked back, using a match-high .467 hitting percentage while holding SIUE to a .226 clip.
Trailing 17-12 in the second, the Cougars used a 6-1 run to trail by a pair. SIUE would rally back to take a 22-20 lead in the second, but the Trojans capped the second frame on a 5-1 run to take a 2-0 advantage.
The beginning of the third set played back and forth with neither team able to grab an edge. Knotted at 13, Little Rock used a 9-2 run to lead by six. The Cougars would counter with a run of their own, but Little Rock grabbed two of the final three set points for the match victory.
SIUE wrapped the match with a .156 clip while picking up three service aces. Little Rock outblocked the Cougars 10-7.
Inside the Numbers:
- Priscilla Jones led SIUE at the net with five blocks, three of which were solos. Jones also added eight kills on 18 swings for a .333 clip.
- Sydney Hummert tallied a team-high 10 kills while grabbing six digs. Savannah Christian and Jenna Taphorn added kills with eight and seven, respectively. Taphorn contributed a pair of blocks.
- Defensively, Alyse Drifka led SIUE with seven digs. Julia Treichel added five.
- Corinna Jones dished out a team-high 16 assists while Drifka handed out 15.
- SIUE and Little Rock will square off in the final match of the regular season on Thursday, Nov. 16. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+. The winner will advance to the OVC Volleyball Tournament in Charleston, Illinois.
