EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's soccer Ignacio Abeal Pou (A Coruña, Spain) has earned Prairie Farms Cougar of the Week honors following his two goals against Lindenwood in the Ohio Valley Conference Semifinals on Wednesday, sending the Cougars to the conference championship.
Nacho's first strike came in the 70th minute to snap a scoreless tie against the Lions. Sam Layton delivered a 20-yard pass over midfield to Abeal who spun around a defender before making a run in on goal from the left side before blasting home from 15 yards away.
The junior found the back of the net from just outside the penalty box with less than three minutes remaining in the contest for his second goal of the contest and fourth of the season.
SIUE will take on Incarnate Word in the OVC Men's Soccer Championship on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Korte Stadium in Edwardsville.
