EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE wrestling freshman Danny Martinez (Miami, Fla.) has earned Prairie Farms Cougar of the Week honors after leading the Cougars with a second-place finish at the Cougar Clash at on Saturday.

Martinez worked his way to the finals with victories over Northern Illinois' Danny Curran and Army's Rich Treanor. He dropped the final 6-2 to Missouri's Josh Edmond. The freshman posted the top finish for SIUE last weekend.

The Cougars are now idle until Dec. 17 when they welcome California Baptist and Kent State for a triangular at First Community Arena.

The Prairie Farms Cougar of the Week honors an SIUE student-athlete who demonstrated excellence in competition.
