WEEKEND SWEEP: SIUE swept its in-state OVC rival Eastern Illinois in a three-game weekend series inÂ
Edwardsville. It was the Cougars first sweep of the Panthers in 10 seasons.Â
CONFERENCE CALL: SIUE is playing its 12th season in the Ohio Valley Conference. They have an all-time record of 125-178.
HOT START: SIUE began the year 10-2. It is the best start through 12 games since the 1990 team also started 10-2.

LEAGUE LEADERS: SIUE hitters are third in the league with a .266 batting average, and lead the league in doubles with 61. SIUE pitchers are fourth in the OVC in earned run average at 5.97 and are third in total strikeouts with 242. The Cougars hold the highest fielding percentage in the league at .980, good for No. 16 in the NCAA.Â
Additionally, Bunten leads the OVC and is No. 2 in the NCAA with 16 doubles.
Brennan Orf is third in the league in home runs with nine, tops in runs scored with 41 (22nd in the NCAA) and also leads in walks (31) which is 15th in the NCAA.
Zeus Ponder is second in the league and is No. 39 in the NCAA with five saves.
CLOSING IN ON CAREER MARKS: Bunten is closing in on SIUE's caeer home run mark. Bunten has 33 home runs (tied 2nd). SIUE's career record for home runs is 35, held by Brock Weimer (2016-19). Bunten is fourth in career RBIs in SIUE's Division I era with 133.Â
