LOUISVILLE, Ky. – SIUE men's and women's cross country competed at the Louisville Live in Lou Classic on Saturday morning at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. The men ran in the blue 8,000m race at 10:45 a.m. followed by the women's blue 5,000m at 11:30 a.m.
The men finished 21st overall of 32 teams with an average time of 26:10.74.
Senior Roland Prenzler paced the Cougars in the men's 8,000m, finishing 20th overall at 25:13.7. Senior Spencer Hielkema earned 55th overall, crossing the finish line at 25:40.4. Jackson Edwards (26:37.5) and Zach Walters (26:38.0) finished back-to-back at 161st and 162nd.
Tyler Guthrie (184th/26:44.1), Cameron Woodard (249th/27.17.2), D'Andre Watson (350th/28:18.7), Cullen Krieg (351st/28.19.0), and Blake Panagos (397th/29:37.7) also competed in the event.
The women earned 33rd of 41 teams for an average time of 19:58.62.
For the women, Kaitlyn Walker led SIUE with an 18.57.4 time in the 5,000m for 51st overall. Freshman Ella Their earned 126th at 19:37.5. Mia Loafman finished at 20:13.3 for 194th while Alexis Fischer took 215th at 20:27.3.
Natalia Rodriguez (237th/20:37.6), Gabrielle Horton (240th/20:39.2), Caroline Gwaltney (302nd/21:19.2), Riley Doyle (315th/21:29.9), and Chessy Nikonowicz (370th/23:10.3) also ran in the women's 5,000m race.
