EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Cougar Volleyball (7-12, 2-6 OVC) fell to Morehead State (9-11, 5-4 OVC) 3-2 in the first game of the weekend series. SIUE swept the first two sets (25-15, 25-22), before being defeated by the Eagles in the final three sets (25-17,26-24,15-12).
This season, the Cougars have played nine games that have gone to five sets; they are 2-7 overall and 1-2 when it comes to playing five set at Frist Community Arena.
First Community Arena saw strong performance from
Ainsley Ranstead and
Kyndia Smith, who each had 13 kills. Ranstead hit at a .310 percentage, while Smith hit at a .194 clip.
Both
Nicole Medlin and
Sydney Hummert recorded 10 kills apiece. Medlin hit at a .400 clip percentage. While Hummert contributed 12 digs.
Taya Nordman had a stand out performance hitting over 600 tonight, hitting .636 off of eight kills, one error, and 11 attempts. Nordmann also contributed three block assists.
Setters
Corinna Jones and
Alyse Drifka had a significant impact on the game, with Jones having 22 assists and Drifka having 30 assists and 13 digs.
