COMMERCE, Texas - SIUE softball captured a doubleheader sweep Saturday, besting Texas A&M Commerce 8-3 and 6-3 at John Cain Family Softball Complex.

Ben Sorden was pleased with his team's pitching performance and noted how he saw offensive production up and down the lineup.
"
Sydney Baalman had a pretty performance in game one," said Sorden. "
Kelsey Ray spun a great game in the second contest."
Rylie Pindel also threw the final inning in game two and earned her first save of the season.
SIUE's offense provided big runs all day for its pitchers.
Grace Lueke finished the day 6 for 9 with three hits in both games.
"She was seeing the all well and wasn't overswinging," said Sorden. "She did a fantastic job."
Lauren Yslava hit her second home run of the season, a three-run blast in game one.
In game two, SIUE went scoreless for the first four innings before erupting for five runs in the top of the fifth.
SIUE scored all five runs with two outs, picking up RBIs from
Anna Henderson,
Piper Montgomery, Yslava and
Jenna Herron.
The Cougars added an insurance run in the sixth on a Lueke single that drove home Kaylynn Salyers.
SIUE, now 3-4 for the season, has one more game schedule with Texas A&M Commerce, a 1 p.m. contest Sunday. Texas A&M Commerce is now 4-6 for the season.
