EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE softball junior Lauryn Yslava (Gilroy, California) has earned Prairie Farms Cougar of the Week honors following her offensive performance over the weekend against Texas A&M Commerce at John Cain Family Softball Complex.
The outfielder went 2-for-3 with a three-run home homer in game one of Saturday's doubleheader before going 2-for-4 with an RBI double in game two. She followed up with a 2-for-3 day at the plate on Sunday, driving in one of SIUE's four runs on an RBI single in the top of the fifth inning en route to the series sweep over the Lions.
Yslava leads the Cougars and is batting .400 (10-for-25) through SIUE's first eight games of the season. The junior also leads SIUE in home runs (2), runs scored (6), slugging percentage (.720), and total bases (18).
The Prairie Farms Cougar of the Week honors an SIUE student-athlete who demonstrated excellence in competition.
