EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - SIUE women's tennis won five singles matches and toppled Northern Iowa 6-1 at the Edwardsville Y Meyer Center.
"It was good to bounce back with a win," said SIUE Head Coach
Adam Albertsen. "Northern Iowa came out and competed well. I really like how we responded after a tough loss the night before."
After grabbing the doubles point early, the Cougars recorded four wins in straight sets.
SIUE freshman
Stefaniya Anikina started the singles run with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over UNI's Kanyanut Sudsaard at No. 5 singles.
Senior
Jordan Schifano followed with a 6-0, 7-5 triumph over Lorena Cardoso at No. 3 singles.
Margaux Guibal Britt provided the match-clinching point at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles.
The Cougars also picked up wins from
Amelia Gorman at No. 4 singles and
Cydney Rogers at No. 6 singles.
SIUE begins its spring break next Saturday with a home event against Missouri State before heading south to face Alcorn State, Nicholls State and New Orleans.
