GARRETT GETS THE BALL: Sophomore lefty Garrett Helsel will make his fifth appearance and fourth start of the year. He has 12 strikeouts in 14 innings of work this year and is searching for his first win of the year.

LEAGUE LEADERS: Lucas Spence is seventh in the Ohio Valley Conference in batting average at .382. He is tied for fourth in the league with 21 total hits. Ethan Willoughby is tied for second in the league with six doubles and tied for third with 65 at-bats. Spencer Stearns is tied for third in the league with 22.1 innings pitched. As a team, SIUE is tied for fourth in the OVC with 24 doubles. The Cougars also are tied for fourth with a .964 fielding percentage.

NEWCOMERS: SIUE has 19 newcomers on this year's team. Among position players, newcomers have accounted for 86 starts. All but three starts on the mound have come from returners.
