ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis scored twice in the bottom of the sixth and outlasted SIUE softball 4-3 at the Billiken Sports Center.
The Cougars used their bench effectively in the contest, picking up RBIs from pinch hitters
Harley Limberger and
Madison Kearns.
SIUE, 15-30, collected nine hits overall, including three from
Lauryn Yslava. The Cougars left 10 runners on base.
"I thought she kept it simple," SIUE Head Coach
Ben Sorden said of Yslava. "She's seeing the ball well."
Kelsey Ray struck out six in a losing effort for SIUE. Her season record dropped to 7-8.
"She pitched well enough to win, and she kept us in the ball game," said Sorden.
Saint Louis used three pitchers in the contest. Reliever Isabel Royle was credited with the win.
SIUE recorded its 16th one-run game of the season Wednesday and now prepare for a weekend series at Tennessee Tech. The Cougars play two games Saturday starting at noon followed by a single game Sunday at noon in Cookeville, Tennessee.
