EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - SIUE women's tennis improved to 13-3 for the season and 3-1 in Ohio Valley Conference play with a 6-1 victory over visiting Eastern Illinois at the SIUE Tennis Courts.
"It was great playing in front of an awesome crowd," said SIUE Head Coach
Adam Albertsen. "We appreciate all the students and the community that support this team and created an amazing atmosphere."
The Cougars will have little time to celebrate this victory. SIUE travels to Evansville, Indiana, for a 1 p.m. contest Sunday at Southern Indiana.
Cydney Rogers and
Paula Guillen Cerver each picked up their 10th singles win of the season, winning at No. 4 and No. 5 singles respectively.
"Great to see Cydney and Paula continue to step up and provide a spark for our team and the singles lineup," said Albertsen. "We have a big match tomorrow against Southern Indiana and need to keep the momentum going in both doubles and singles."
SIUE grabbed momentum early in doubles Saturday with Rogers and
Fabiola Perez winning first at No. 3 doubles with a 6-1 win over Em Pilopovic-Klajic and Luia Renovales Salazar.
Amelia Gorman, who won her team-leading 24th singles match, and
Margaux Guibal Britt clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Addison Brown and Jemma Booth

Jill Lambrechts and
Jordan Schifano secured their 15th doubles win of the season with a tight 7-6 victory at No. 2 doubles over Aleyla Wooten.
Guibal Britt was victorious at No. 1 singles when her opponent retired midway through the first set.
Chloe Koons also accepted a forfeit for the Cougars at No. 6 singles.
