EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE Cross Country will be traveling to Columbia, Missouri to run in Mizzou's Gans Creek Classic Friday morning. The men's 8k and the women's 6k is set to take off at 8:00 a.m.
 
Every year the Gans Creek course hosts the high school state cross country meet. This year, Mizzou adds the NAIA nationals to the list of races they will host.
 
Friday's meet will host over 100 teams, including 40 women's Division 1 teams and 36 men's D1 teams. NAIA teams also are invited to register in the open races to get the lay of the land. The number of teams makes this the largest meet that SIUE cross country has participated in.
 
SIUE cross county will face tough competition this weekend going against teams from Air Force, Baylor, Creighton, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Stanford, UCLA and more. The Cougars will be one of four OVC teams including UT Martin, Southeast Missouri, and Southern Indiana.
