Cougars Take on North Dakota for the Second Tournament of the Season

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – SIUE (1-4, 0-0 OVC) started off the weekend playing four sets against UNI (2-2,0-0 MVC). Later in the afternoon they went a full five sets against North Dakota (2-2, 0-0 MVC).
 
UNI took the first two sets against the Cougars (25-18, 25-15). SIUE fought back in the first set winning 25-20 before falling to the Panthers in the fourth set 25-13.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Kyndia Smith led the team with 12 kills out of 25 total attacks hitting at .280. Smith had an Individual high with the most points in four sets at 12.5. Nicole Medlin follows Smith in both categories with seven kills and nine points.
  • Alyse Drifka had 17 total set assists followed by Corinna Jones who had 15
  • Leading the team with 19 digs is Olivial Hogan
  • As a team the Cougars totaled 40 kills with a .132 percentage
 
Women's Volleyball went on to play North Dakota later in the evening. The Fighting Hawks took the Course through all five sets. SIUE led with the first set winning 25-17. North Dakota fought back in the second 25-20 and the third 14-25. SIUE evened the score in the fourth set winning 27-25, before falling in the fifth 15-10.
 
Inside the Number
  • Jones led the team with 20 set assists against the Fighting Hawks. Jones still leads the team with most assists at 23 after last weekend in Indiana.
  • Sydney Hummert led the team with 12 kills bringing her to 948 career kills. Ainsley Ranstead had 11 kills against the Panthers hitting at a .280
  • Drifka led the team with 13 digs followed by Jones with 11 and Olivia Hogan with 10
  • The Cougars as a team had 11 ace serves, 55 digs, 8 blocks and 52 kills.
 
Up next the Cougars take on North Dakota State at 11:00 a.m. in Fargo, N.D. to finish the ND/NDSU tournament.
