• This is the 19th all-time meeting between the Cougars and the Screaming Eagles. SIUE holds an 11-3-4 advantage in the series. The last three contests in this series have ended in ties. The last SIUE win was 2007, a 1-0 victory in Edwardsville. The last USI win was a 2-1 contest in 2003.

Savannah DeFini leads the team in goals scored with three and in shots with 26 after recording four against Lindenwood. DeFini has 14 shots in her last three games.

Claire Nieroda, who had been the team leader in shots, scored her first career goal in the win over Western Illinois. Nieroda scored off a restart just outside the box after a foul.

Sarah Bozeman posted her second shutout as a Cougar Thursday in the 0-0 tie with Lindenwood. She has 69 saves this season in 13 games played.
• The 17-shot effort against Western Illinois was the second straight game in which the Cougars posted a season high in shots attempted. SIUE had 16 in the loss at Little Rock.
• SIUE is in seventh place in the OVC standings with a 1-2-2 record (five points). Southern Indiana is tied for third with nine points (2-0-3 record).

Anna Zichella is tied for second in the OVC in assists with three. She trails only Little Rock's Maria Schuller and Tennessee Tech's Melina Hamm with four.
• After Sunday's game, SIUE has home contests against Southeast Missouri (Oct. 16) and Morehead (Oct. 19) as well as the regular season finale (Oct. 26) at UT Martin.

Derek Burton, who took over the SIUE women's soccer program when it jumped to the Division I level before the 2008 season. Burton has led SIUE to five Ohio Valley Conference titles and five NCAA Tournament appearances (2014, 2016, 2020, 2021 and 2022).
