• This is the 21st all-time meeting between the Cougars and the Lions. The two teams tied 0-0 on October 9 at SIUE's Korte Stadium. This is the first-ever meeting in the OVC Tournament between the two schools.
• Sarah Bozeman and Claire Nieroda were named to the OVC All-Newcomer team. Bozeman, a junior goalkeeper from O'Fallon, Missouri, was among OVC leaders in saves with 89 and posted a 2.10 goals against average in 17 contests. During OVC play, she posted four shutouts and grabbed 40 saves. Nieroda, a freshman midfielder from O'Fallon, Illinois, led the Cougars in shots on goal with 18 and tied for the team lead in overall shots with 35. She scored against both Western Illinois and Southeast Missouri during OVC play.
• SIUE advanced in the first round of the OVC Tournament by penalty kicks over sixth-seeded UT Martin. After tieing 0-0 through regulation and two overtime periods, the Cougars edged the Skyhawks 5-4 in penalty kicks. Sarah Bozeman saved two shots, including one in the sixth round of the PKs.
• SIUE finished seventh in the OVC standings by points and by percentage. SIUE and Eastern Illinois are the only two teams heading into the eight-team tournament with a loss after the final game of the regular season.
• Savannah DeFini leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assist.
• Claire Nieroda scored her second goal of the season in the win over Southeast Missouri. Both of her goals this season have been game-winning goals.
• Anna Zichella leads the Cougars in assists with three.
• This is the 18th season for Head Coach Derek Burton, who took over the SIUE women's soccer program when it jumped to the Division I level before the 2008 season. Burton has led SIUE to five Ohio Valley Conference titles and five NCAA Tournament appearances (2014, 2016, 2020, 2021 and 2022).
