EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's basketball Head Coach Brian Barone has begun building his roster for the 2026-27 announcing the addition of David Wilson (Norman, Oklahoma).
Wilson is a 6-foot, 7-inch, 200-pound forward who comes to SIUE from Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas.
"David is a Swiss army knife who brings a lot of athleticism and energy," Barone said. "He can guard all five positions on the floor, which will be a welcome addition to our dynamic defense."
Wilson averaged 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and a steal per game last year at Independence. He connected on 65 percent of his field goal attempts and 73.4 percent of his free throws
"I chose SIUE because the coaching staff saw something in me that not many other people saw," Wilson said. "SIUE provides a great welcoming environment and fan base."
"David is aggressive when finishing at the rim and can shoot from the perimeter which makes him offensively versatile. The kind of person he has fits our culture extremely well.
The Cougars are 2-1 to start the season and will face Drake in a Friday night contest. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
