ST. CHARLES, Mo. – SIUE women's soccer's postseason run ended Sunday, dropping a 1-0 decision at Lindenwood in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
Mackenzie Compton scored the eventual winning goal for the Lions in the 76th minute. Lindenwood moves on to the OVC semifinals and improved its season record to 9-4-5. SIUE closed out the season with a 3-12-5 record.
The Cougars certainly weren't without opportunities at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium.
SIUE finished with 11 shots overall, including a blistering shot by MaryClaire Imig that hit the crossbar and diverted back into play at the 56:00 mark.
Alyna Hauser, Claire Nieroda and Olivia Watt also produced a pair of shots for the Cougars. Despite being edged in shots 14-11, the Cougars were dominant in gaining opportunities in Lindenwood's final third, collecting seven corner kicks.
Sarah Bozeman recorded seven saves in goal for the Cougars. Caroline Ritter finished with three saves for the Lions.
