EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's tennis improved to 4-1 this spring season with a 5-2 triumph over visiting Maryville at the Edwardsville Y Meyer Center.
SIUE grabbed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Amelia Gorman teamed with
Stefaniya Anikina for a 6-3 win over Luana Luersen and Carolina Velazquez at No. 1 doubles. SIUE's
Margaux Guibal Britt and
Chloe Koons bested Victoria Lisson and Grace Brown.
Gorman collected her 11
th singles win of the season at No. 1 singles, overpowering Nazli Saka 6-2, 6-0. Guibal Britt earned her first win of the spring at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lisson.
Payton Tomichek captured the winning point at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Luersen.
Koons capped off the victory with a three-set win at No. 5 singles, a 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 victory at No. 5 singles.
The Cougars remain home for Sunday match against Missouri State. The first serve at the Edwardsville Y Meyer Center is at 10 a.m.
