WATERLOO, Iowa – SIUE women's tennis ran its record to 6-1 Saturday and won its fourth straight match with a 4-2 victory over St. Thomas (Minn.).
The two teams met at a neutral site at the Black Hawk Tennis Center. SIUE faces Northern Iowa Sunday at 10 a.m. to complete the road trip.
As it has in its previous six matches, SIUE won the doubles point. Amelia Gorman and Cydney Rogers captured the No. 1 doubles match 6-2 over Regina Talavera and Anna Sidorenko. Margaux Guibal Britt and Stefaniya Anikina secured the doubles point at No. 2 doubles with a 6-3 win over Shrichandakala Tentu and Lily Olson.
Anikina gave SIUE its first singles win, dispatching Olson 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Amelia Gorman won her team-best 12th singles match with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles. Chloe Koons would close out the match with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 triumph over Ingrid Forsberg at No. 6 singles.
Both Anikina and Koons are 4-0 in singles matches during dual meets this season.
