WATERLOO, Iowa – SIUE women's tennis made it five straight victories Sunday with a 4-1 victory at Northern Iowa.
The Cougars improved to 7-1 for the season. SIUE closes out the month of February this Friday with a 6 p.m. matchup against Saint Louis at the Missouri Athletic Club.
SIUE's fifth straight win featured a common theme with the Cougars collecting the early momentum with the doubles point. Amelia Gorman and Cydney Rogers quickly won their No. 1 doubles match 6-4 over Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso.
Stefaniya Anikina and Margaux Guibal Britt were down 2-0 to start their No. 2 doubles match with UNI's Kim Zizek and Andjela Raznatovic but fought back for a 7-6 victory to clinch the doubles point.
Chloe Koons remained undefeated in singles play this spring with a swift 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Sreelasya Mylavarapu at No. 6 singles. Koons is now 5-0 this spring in dual singles play.
Amelia Gorman extended her team-leading singles record to 13-2 this season with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Darta Dalecka at No. 1 singles.
Stefaniya Anikina provided the match-clinching win at No. 5 singles, besting Kanyanut Sudsaard 6-1, 6-3.
