EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's soccer dropped its first nonconference contest of the season Thursday with a 2-1 loss to visiting Omaha at Korte Stadium.

Freshman Claire Nieroda led the Cougars with two shots while SIUE goalkeeper Sarah Bozeman recorded four saves. SIUE is now 1-1-1 for the season and next faces Missouri State in a 2 p.m. contest Sunday at Korte Stadium.

Omaha, 2-0-1, picked up goals from Payten Ivins in the 23^rd minute and Charley Kort in the 62^nd minute. SIUE recorded an own goal in the first half.

Hayley Ogden finished with two saves and earned the win in goal for the Mavericks.
