• This is the 20th all-time meeting between the Cougars and the Panthers. SIUE holds a 16-2-1 advantage in the series and has won the last seven straight meetings dating back to 2019.
• This is the opening game of the Ohio Valley Conference regular season. SIUE opens up the home OVC season Thursday against Tennessee Tech. Game time is 7 p.m. at Korte Stadium.
• The OVC season features eight contests. SIUE has home OVC matches against Tennessee Tech (Sep. 25), Western Illinois (Oct. 5), Lindenwood (Oct. 9) and Southeast Missouri (Oct. 16).
• SIUE is ranked third in scoring with nine goals scored during the nonconference season. Little Rock leads the OVC with 17 goals. Eastern Illinois is fifth with seven.
• Freshman Claire Nieroda is the team leader in shots for the season with 16. Savannah DeFini is second with 11.
• Sarah Bozeman set a new career best with 10 saves against Saint Louis. It was the most saves by a Cougar since Juli Rossi recorded 10 at Iowa on Sep. 4, 2016.
• Alayna Hauser became the third player to score multiple goals this season. Her game-tying goal in the second half against SIU Carbondale makes her the second freshman this season with more than one goal. Amanda Dean is the other.
• This is the 18th season for Head Coach Derek Burton, who took over the SIUE women's soccer program when it jumped to the Division I level before the 2008 season. Burton has led SIUE to five Ohio Valley Conference titles and five NCAA Tournament appearances (2014, 2016, 2020, 2021 and 2022).
