Little Rock Tops Cougars 2-0

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock used a pair of second-half goals to defeat SIUE women's soccer 2-0 Sunday at Coleman Sports & Recreation Complex.

SIUE, 1-9-2 overall and 0-2-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference, collected a season-high 16 shots in the loss.

SIUE's front line was active with Savannah DeFini leading the way. The Cougar senior set a new career high with six shots, besting her previous mark of set set last season against Chicago State. DeFini bombarded Little Rock goalkeeper Peyton Urban with her final two shots in the last minute of play.

Claire Nieroda, Ava Lewis and Zoe Bumiller also had a pair of shots for the Cougars. Sarah Bozeman finished with four saves in goal for SIUE.

Little Rock used goals by Serenity Thake (57:14) and Megan Rogan (64:05) among its 17 shots to earn its first OVC win of the season. The Trojans are 1-0-2 in the OVC as well as 3-3-4 overall.

The Cougars next return home for back-to-back home contests next Sunday against Western Illinois and Oct. 9 vs. Lindenwood.
