SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - SIUE women's tennis captured the spring season opener with a 6-1 road victory over Illinois-Springfield at the Springfield Racquet and Fitness Center.
Debuting as the 66ers, SIUE won all three of the doubles matches and the top five singles matches.
Elena Palioura earned the first singles point for SIUE with her 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles over Cristina Mendoza Romero.
Jessica Li did not yield a game in her 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over Niamh Grogan.
Paloma Hennicaux provided the match-clinching point at No. 4 singles with her 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Alisha Deogaonkar.
Chloe Koons made it 5-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over UIS's Jane Carter at No. 5 singles. SIUE's
Margaux Guibal Britt kept the pace at No. 1 singles with a 6-2 6-4 win over Ema Norma Bordean.
