VALPARAISO, Ind. – SIUE women's tennis won its second road dual match in as many days, defeating Valparaiso 4-0 at The Courts of NWI.
SIUE improved to 2-0 for the season while Valpo dropped to 4-1.
The Cougars next head to Indianapolis for a neutral site match Jan. 25th against Bowling Green.
"This was a great way to kick off our spring season, picking up two wins in two days and getting really good match play in," said SIUE Head Coach Adam Albertsen. "We played really strong in doubles against UIS, and I like how we bounced back and competed against Valpo. They always give us a tremendous fight, and our team stepped up big taking the doubles point and playing really smart singles points."
The SIUE No. 3 doubles team of Mya Bowe and Chloe Koons combined for a 6-1 doubles win against Ana Baron and Madi Rogers. SIUE's No. 2 doubles team of Cydney Rogers and Margaux Guibal Britt would clinch the doubles point with a 6-2 triumph over Andrea Delgado and Brynn Steven.
Three straight sets victories in singles made the difference for the Cougars.
Elena Palioura started the sweep with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles over Valpo's Lacey Tanner. The Cougars' Paloma Hennicaux bested Andrea Delgado 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. SIUE's Chloe Koons provided the match-winning point at No. 5 singles, defeating Jolene Fernandez 6-2, 6-0.
