BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – SIUE's Tori Bockstadter and Emma Czech have been named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, by the Ohio Valley Conference.
The awards come on the heels of a 4-0 rout this past weekend at Morehead State in which the Cougars improved to 2-0 in league play.
Bockstadter led the Cougars' attack with three of the team's 18 shots against the Eagles. She scored the game-winning goal at 13:54 with an assist from Claire Nieroda. Bockstadter also recorded assists in both of the next two goals from Nieroda at 15:09 and MaryClaire Imig at 60:21.
Czech powered the back line for the Cougars' defense. SIUE held Morehead State to one shot in the first half and five in the second half. Czech was a co-winner of the award with UT Martin's Nasti Tanninen.
The Cougars are back in action at Korte Stadium Saturday with a 6 p.m. contest against UT Martin.
