MILWAUKEE, Wis. – SIUE women's tennis dropped a 4-3 contest Saturday in a close battle at Marquette.
The Cougars dropped to 5-2 while Marquette improved to 3-8. SIUE has little turnaround time as it heads to Chicago State for a 9 a.m. match tomorrow.
SIUE found itself behind early, dropping the double point but quickly earned the momentum in singles.
Back-to-back-to-back wins by Jessica Li at No. 4 singles, Elena Palioura at No. 2 singles and Stefaniya Anikina at No. 3 singles gave SIUE a 3-1 lead. Marquette, however, pushed back with three straight wins, including a three-setter at No. 1 singles and a pair of tiebreak wins at No. 6 singles.
