LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – SIUE women's basketball battled through four quarters but fell 73-64 on the road to Little Rock Saturday.
SIUE is now 10-14 overall and 3-11 in Ohio Valley Conference play, while Little Rock improved to 12-12 overall and 8-6 in conference play.
The Cougars kept the game close through the first quarter, trailing the Trojans 18-14.
Lauren Miller knocked down a pair of free throws to open the second quarter, briefly giving SIUE a 19-18 lead. Little Rock responded to take a 29-25 advantage into halftime.
The Trojans pulled ahead late in the third quarter and carried a 49-43 lead into the fourth. Little Rock went 14-of-20 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to help season the win.
Kiyoko Proctor led SIUE with 13 points while grabbing four rebounds and adding four assists.
Macy Silvey and
Lauren Miller each had 11 points. Silvey went 3-8 from three-point range and had seven boards, while Miller went 7-8 from the line and had five rebounds.
Syanne Mohamed led the team with 10 rebounds.
The teams were evenly matched, tying the game five times in the first half. SIUE connected 36 percent of its points from the field, 28.6 percent from three-point range and 70 percent from the line. While Little Rock made 42.6 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 73 percent from the free throw line.
