INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Four SIUE golfers finished in the top 11 and the Cougars finished second at Butler's Dob Benbow Spring Invitational completed Tuesday at the Highland Country Club.
SIUE finished eight strokes off the pace at six-under for the tournament. The Cougars' 54-hole total of 834 (275-277-282) is the second lowest in program history.
Host Butler won on its home course at 14-under. Indian Hills Community College was third at one-under for the event.
Preston Bily posted the best finish and the lowest 54-hole total of his career, finishing in third place with a 204 (69-67-68). It also matches the seventh lowest individual 54-hole total at SIUE.
Bily was just a shot back of second place and three strokes behind the Individual Medalist, Leo Zurovac of Butler.
Brent Reintjes, who played as an individual, also posted the best finish of his career, finishing fifth. He tied his career low 54-hole total with a 206 (67-70-69). The total is tied for 11th lowest all-time at SIUE.
Brady Kaufmann tied for ninth. He finished at 209 (-1) for the tournament. Will Simpson finished at even-par 210 and tied for 11th overall. Both 54-hole totals are among the top 35 at SIUE.
Max Bruening finished 59th and was 10-over. Tomas Rascon tied for 70th at 14-over. Jake Guse, SIUE's second individual, tied for 90th.
The Cougars are back on the course at the Murray State Racer Invitational Monday and Tuesday.
