EVANSVILLE, Ind. – SIUE women's basketball fell to Southern Indiana 72-44 Wednesday in the second round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
USI took control early with a 14-0 run over 7:31 in the first quarter. An
Ava Gugliuzza three-pointer snapped the run and USI led 17-8 in after the first quarter. The Eagles extended the advantage to 31-17 by halftime. The Screaming Eagles shot 43 percent from the field and connected on 10 three-pointers.
The Cougars were dealt with an early setback when freshman guard
Kiyoko Proctor exited the game due to an injury after playing just seven minutes. She finished the year as the team's scoring leader averaging 13.4 points per game.
Freshman
Lauren Miller stepped up for SIUE putting up 18 points and grabbing six rebounds. Syan Mohamed finished with nine points and nine rebounds. She finished her season averaging 9.9 rebounds per game, which ranks as the program record for a career.
Macy Silvey added five points, ending her career with 1,054 points ranking 22nd in program history.
SIUE finished the season 16-16 overall.
