BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – SIUE men's soccer's Bobby Pauly and Ioannis Koupepides have been selected as the Defender and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Both helped to lead SIUE to a 1-0 win over rival Saint Louis Sunday, bringing the Bronze Boot trophy back to Edwardsville.
Pauly, a senior from St. Charles, Missouri, played all 90 minutes, helping SIUE to its first win of the season and the first shutout of the year. It was Pauly's pass into the box that set up the game-winning goal in the 37th minute.
Koupepides, a junior from Nicosia, Cyprus, earned his first shutout in an SIUE uniform turning away all five Saint Louis shots on the goal in the match.
The award is the first weekly award for both players.
The Cougars, 1-3, will travel to Loyola-Chicago for a Thursday contest with the Ramblers.
