MUNCIE, Ind. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville volleyball got off to a slow start at the Ball State Invitational, dropping a three-set match to Louisville 25-16, 25-17, 25-15.
The Cougars fell to 0-6 with the loss. SIUE looks to rebound Saturday with two matches. The Cougars play host Ball State at 12:30 p.m. ET and IUPU-Ft. Wayne at 5 p.m. ET.
Sydney Winslow led the Cougars with six kills as the team hit a combined .071 against the Cardinals. Freshman Brooke Smith recorded five kills off the bench.
Louisville had two players with double-digit kills. Lola Arslanbekova led all players with 14 kills. Lecia brown added 10 kills and a .571 hitting percentage. Louisville hit .391 as a team.
Tiffany Turner led the Cougars with seven digs.
SIUE led 3-0 in set two only to have Louisville make a 9-1 run on the Cougars. Louisville is now 2-2 this season.
