EDWARSDVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE men's and women's tennis teams will play host to their first indoor matches of the season when they welcome South Dakota State to the Edwardsville YMCA Sunday evening.

The SIUE women will take the court at 4:30 p.m. before the Cougar men are scheduled to begin at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Both SIUE squads opened the season with victories last weekend in Indianapolis against IUPUI.

On the women's side, the Cougars defeated the Jaguars 4-3 behind singles victories from Kali Donner, Monique Krutak, Amanda Miller, and McKenzie Thomas.  Haley Ilcewicz and Sierra Halverson also contributed by teaming up to earn a victory in doubles.

For the men, SIUE picked up a 4-2 victory as Marten Jonsson, Jacob Tanulanond, Jacob Perkins, and Nico Kuehn notched wins in singles play. Nicolas Vincent and Gary Dias gave the Cougars a victory in doubles as well.

South Dakota State's men's team opened its season with a 7-0 loss against Arkansas last Sunday. This is the 2013 opening weekend for the Jackrabbit women's team.  Both the SDSU men's and women's teams compete at Saint Louis today.
