Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - The SIUE women's tennis team won two out of three doubles matches, but couldn't pull out the win against Jacksonville State Sunday.
The Gamecocks took the match by a score of 5-2, after the hosts won five of Sunday's six singles matches.
SIUE got out to a fast start in doubles, getting wins from the duos of Monique Krutak and Haley Ilcewicz, and McKenzie Thomas and Amanda Miller.
Thomas also won her singles match, coming back from a set down to defeat Kelly Tomlin (3-6, 6-4, 6-0). The win gave Thomas her 11th singles victory of the season.
The loss drops the Cougars to 7-12 overall and 3-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Next up for SIUE are its final two matches before OVC Championships. The Cougars will host Morehead State Saturday at 2 p.m. before welcoming Eastern Kentucky to Edwardsville on Sunday at 11 a.m.
