ROCKFORD, Ill. – Northern Illinois won a pair of third-set tiebreakers to edge SIUE 4-3 win women's college tennis action at the Boylan Tennis Courts.

SIUE, 2-2, split the six singles matches Friday with wins from Lexi Aranda, Monique Krutak, and Mia Frogner.

Aranda downed Nelle Youel 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles. Krutak dispatched Haley Dekkinga 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Frogner sailed past Mary Malkin at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-2.

Both Kali Donner and Haley Ilcewicz reversed fortunes by losing the first set and evening the match with a second-set victory. Donner was edged by Arantza De La Torre 10-8 in a third set tiebreaker at No. 3 singles while Ilcewicz was defeated by Cristina Alvarez in the No. 5 singles tiebreaker 10-2.

NIU, 2-1, took the doubles point by winning two of three doubles matches. Ilcewicz and Aranda picked up a win a No. 3 doubles, defeating Alvarez and Maria Rozo 6-3.

SIUE has an early match Saturday at Chicago State. The first serve is set for 9 a.m.
