Box Score RICHMOND, Ky. – The SIUE women's tennis team fell to Eastern Kentucky, 7-0, Saturday. The Colonels move to 4-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play and 9-8 overall this season.
The Cougars (0-14, 0-3 OVC) had multiple close matches, but couldn't pull a point on the day.
"Our effort was very good today," said SIUE Head Coach Nick Mueller about the team. "EKU came up with some shots when they had to, and we didn't capitalize on a lot of deuce games."
In No. 1 doubles play, Alex Belle and Lisa Friess (EKU) defeated the SIUE duo of Ann-Christine Link and Raillane Kamdem, 6-3.
In singles play, the No. 1 match saw Laura Argente (EKU) defeat Lara Tupper (SIUE) 6-3, 6-3. In No. 2 singles, Eastern Kentucky's Kristina Lagoda defeated SIUE's Raillane Kamdem 6-3, 6-3.
"We have made some positive strides the last two weeks," Mueller added. "We hope to keep that going into next weekend."
