EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Sydney Hummert and Alyse Drifka each tallied a double-double in the series opener at Southern Indiana, but the Cougars fell in four frames on Saturday night at Screaming Eagles Arena. The Cougars took the first set before falling in the final three frames with set scores of: 25-22, 23-25, 28-30, and 22-25.
SIUE falls to 7-9 overall and 1-4 in Ohio Valley Conference play. USI improves to 9-9 and 5-2.
SIUE concluded the match with a .171 attack percentage while the Screaming Eagles hit for a .244 clip. The Cougars tallied seven aces and nine blocks in the match.
Inside the Numbers:
- Hummert led the Cougars' attack with 15 kills. The junior concluded the match with a .265 clip. She added 13 digs for her sixth double-double of the season.
- Priscilla Jones (14) and Chelsey Abel (10) also contributed double-digit kills. They co-led SIUE with four blocks apiece.
- At center court, Alyse Drifka dished out a team-high 24 assists. She added 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. The junior setter has picked up a double-double in six consecutive matches. Corinna Jones contributed 13 assists.
- On defense, Abi Banitt led SIUE with 14 digs. She has collected double-digit digs in 14 of SIUE's 16 contests this season.
- Bree Schreimann picked up eight kills, finishing the match with a .211 hitting percentage. She also picked up a pair of blocks.
