BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - SIUE women's tennis added to their accolades Wednesday as
Jill Lambrechts,
Amelia Gorman and
Margaux Guibal Britt earned Ohio Valley Conference weekly honors.
Lambrechts was named the OVC Player of the Week. Gorman and Guibal Britt were named the OVC Doubles Team of the Week.
Lambrechts, who became the third different singles player to earn OVC honors, led the Cougars to a pair of 7-0 victories to start the OVC regular season. The redshirt junior from Beerse, Belgium, defeated Lindenwood's Alina Jensterle 6-0, 6-0 and Tennessee State's Warona Mdlulwa 6-1, 6-1. Her overall record is now 15-6.
Amelia Gorman was named OVC Player of the Week Feb. 1, and
Jordan Schifano was tabbed OVC Player of the Week Feb. 22.
Gorman, a freshman from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Marguax Guibal Britt, a freshman from Rossville. Tennessee, went 2-0 for the week in doubles matches as SIUE swept both Lindenwood and Tennessee State to begin the OVC regular season. The duo defeated Lindenwood's Juliana Kulczynski and Eveline Nilsson 6-2 and Tennessee State's Jovana Nikoloc Franka Sindicic 6-3. The doubles team of Gorman/Guibal Britt, which previously were named OVC Doubles Team of the Week Feb. 1, have won five straight doubles matches (that have been finished).
This is the third time Gorman and Guibal Britt have been named OVC Doubles Team of the Week.
